Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Posted in movie, relationship on 04/03/2005 01:51 am byI got a handful of memories to be erased. Maybe the list is much longer than I expected. Those memories are painful and depressing. Those are the memories I try very hard to memorize in past, to write down as details as possible, to take photos, sometimes, to die for, just like using knife to cut oneself for the shocking painful feeling.
The past stories are as beautiful as poems.
The feelings are eternal.
CU JOEL AND CLEMENTINE HOLD HANDS AS THEY LIE ON BACKS ON FROZEN RIVER.
Joel: I could die right now, Clem. I'm just so happy.
MCU THEIR HEADS AS THEY LIE ON THE RIVER. SHE TURNS TO HIM, THEN PUTS HER HEAD ON HIM.
Joel: I've never felt that before.
When bad days come, the color changes from red to blue. Relationships are dynamic, while both of us are in the system. Our hearts filled up with blue, and we paint using darker blue. Geography lesson in high school taught me the term “feedback mechanism”. On the other side of love, there left a mess. We break down, fall apart, and we break up eventually.
We have two options: to retain and repeat the old memories, or erase them completely.
I got a handful of memories to be erased. Without getting a brand new canvas, I choose to erase everything on the old one. Everything, got to be everything, cause there’s left no memory worthy to stay in my delicate and fragile body.
We hope we’ll become new people next day when we wake up in bed.
A U.S. company Lacuna Inc. provides such service – to erase the personal memories of past loved ones. Do you want to have a try?
Is it painful to erase memories? Does it hurt our brain?
Does it hurt our heart?
JOEL AND CLEMENTINE FACING EACH OTHER.
Joel: I can't see anything that I don't like about you.
Clementine: But you will.
Joel: Right now I can't.
Clementine: But you will. You know, you will think of things. And I'll get bored with you and feel trapped, because that's what happens with me.
JOEL SHRUGS.
Joel: Okay.
CLEMENTINE NODS.
JOEL SMILES.
Clementine: Okay.
CLEMENTINE CRIES, THEN LAUGHS.
Clementine: Okay.
Joel: Okay.
CLEMENTINE AND JOEL LAUGH.
Or we can have breakthrough?

Life is like a book. There are chapters we want to erase or re-write, and then there are those we would re-read and revisit, reminiscing every single moment of it.
Together, the chapters make up a story that is more interesting than the sum of parts. This is the beauty of life.

i would rather die having wounds of love scratched all over my heart than being a soulless, super functional machine

Eternal Sunshine was great movie, very moving for me. Carrey did a great job and didn’t overact like he tends to do.
